On Saturday September 18, 2010 LAESA- SHPE teamed up with Ellen Bruzelius (the educational director), Valarie Albanese- Fraher and co-worker Frazier Hollowar at the Bartow – Pell Mansion Museum Garden for a New York Parks and Recreation event. The successful “help clean up the park project” by LAESA-SHPE, was directed by Christina Holder. Members of our organization helped clean up the area around the mansion. They spread wood chips along the side of the house using shovels, rakes and wheel barrels. Furthermore, they helped to re-pot plants and yank out invasive plants. At the end of a hard day’s work, members were given a tour around the mansion, where they learned about its history. This event gave LAESA-SHPE a sense of achievement which contributed to an overall great experience.
